Eleven

Happy Anniversary to us! Kev and I celebrated our eleventh anniversary on Friday. My mom and sister in law babysat while we whisked ourselves off to Seattle where it all began. We met 12 years ago on March 26th. The Sunday they demolished the Kingdome where Seattle Mariners and Seahawks played. It was both our first week at the singles ward in the U district. After that first introduction we didn't meet again until July and we became friends. By September we were dating and married almost exactly one year after we first met, March 23, 2001.

Now onto our weekend fun again . After dropping kids in Moses Lake we enjoyed a nice quiet drive to Seattle. Checked into our hotel and got a snack on the top floor executive lounge (one advantage of Kevin's travel and being a Diamond status at Hilton). We later met up with our friends the Thornes for dinner and dessert. We made sure to let the concierge know it was our anniversary, we were pleased to return to our room with complimentary chocolate strawberries and sparking cider.
Saturday morning we went for a long run totaling 11 miles . Kevin thought he would do about three and head back, but he was feeling good and the scenery was so fun that we just kept going. We started at Pike's Market headed down Elliot's Bay along the waterfront. The same trail takes you through a train lot to the back side of Queen Anne then over Fremont Bridge to Gas Works park, University bridge to East lake, Eastlake to Lake Union Park and the great finale... Breakfast at Portage Bay Cafe!!!! Which is worth all 11 miles! We enjoyed breakfast outside then slowly walked another 1 1/2 miles to our hotel. Showered and did more wondering eating crab cocktails, French pastries and enjoying a beautiful sunny Seattle spring day. Late afternoon our parking garage car meter ran out so we decided it was a good time to leave, we drove down memory lane past our old institute building then headed back to claim our four cute kids. We are so glad to have a Grandma who is willing to babysit so we can enjoy weekends like this:) and yes most of these pictures are of us running, because that's mostly what we did . Loved it!!!
